So, it seems the City of Hermosa Beach, California is trying to outlaw professional piercing. It’s such a transparently obvious piece of bourgeois f***wittery I couldn’t help but raise a bit of a stink, as ineffective and pointless as I’m sure it ultimately will be. The basic premise is that Hermosa Beach is 89% White, quote-unquote-conservative, upscale enclave and they don’t want a bunch of scumbags sullying up their nice little slice of SoCal heaven.

OK, I’ll accept that.

Of course, I would say this: rather than make yourself a big-ass target for a First Amendment lawsuit, why not encourage a business-handling bunch of solid professionals to dominate the field? In nicer areas, the market cries out for quality shops to give them what they want….look at Michigan. The nicer areas have nice shops, the not-so-nice areas have not-so-nice shops. It’s simple economics. All a regulation like that does is drive the business away to the more cutting-edge areas. I guess if you’re trying to appeal to retirees, then sure, but Southern California is way too expensive for most retirees.

Funny thing about all of this is it’s been cooked up by an extremely slick outfit called Citizens United. As grassroots as a plastic ficus, the’re headquartered six whole blocks from the White House. They have usually kept themselves busy as the front for Gingrich Productions, the propaganda “media outreach” mouthpiece for Newt Gingrich, former Speaker of the House and all-around s***bag who tries to romanticize Reagan and attach himself to that idea in the crassest ways possible. This is the c***sucker who played the role of Outraged WASPY Congressman during the Lewinsky Affair, all the while porking a 27 year old congressional aide much to the chagrin of his then-second wife. Now he’d leading the crusade against anything not Judeo-Christian, ‘Mericun, heterosexual, and sponsored by your favorite weapons manufacturer. It doesn’t surprise me that he takes such a hypocritical stance on government intrusion into business (provided it’s business he agrees with) seeing as how his views on religion, marriage, foreign policy, and special interest groups  are consistently conflicting with what he expects everyone else to do. Makes you wonder that if his 501c3 groups (yeah, he has a few) will jump on such a stupid, failing action….is their position just as hypocritical? Is Newt’s newt stabified? He certainly wouldn’t be the first “do as I say, not as I do” gasbag to throw his hat in the ring for the 2012 Wrestlemania presidential election.
